What are the Different Types of Breast Cancer?
Introduction
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. Most of the deaths of women are because of this extreme life-threatening illness. It refers to cancer originating from the breast tissues or, let’s say, from the inner lining of milk ducts or the lobules which supply milk to the duct. There is an erratic growth and proliferation of cells whose origin is in the breast tissue. Capecitabine is a drug that is used to treat breast cancers. There are many types of breast cancers. Some common types are-
1. Types of Invasive Breast Cancer
a) Invasive Ductal Carcinoma: This is the most common type of breast cancer. Most cancer patients have this type of breast cancer only. Invasive Ductal Carcinoma is a type of cancer that starts from the milk ducts and then grows into other areas of the breast. If treatment is not done at a certain time, it might spread cancer to other body parts, making the condition critical.
b) Invasive Lobular Carcinoma: It is the second most common type, and it starts in the lobules, i.e., a place in the breast where milk is made, and then it spreads to other tissues present in the breast. One in every five women has both breasts affected due to this type of cancer. Invasive Lobular Carcinoma is very harder to detect.
c) Inflammatory Breast Cancer: This type might be detected either in lobules or in the duct, and this type tends to spread a lot faster when compared with other types. As the name suggests inflammatory, a woman affected with this will have swelling or redness or both on the surface of the breasts. Because of this, many times, it is being discarded by doctors saying that it is just a breast infection, but it’s a lot more serious than this.
d) Paget Disease of Breast: This is a less common type of breast cancer, and it develops over the skin of the breast, mainly on the skin areola and nipple, creating harmful tumor cells known as Paget cells.
e) Angiosarcoma of Breast: This breast cancer type forms on the lining of the lymph or on the blood vessels present. This type is not diagnosed soon until it spreads out quickly to other parts of the body.
f) Phyllodes Tumor: These tumors are mostly found in the breast’s connective tissues. This tumor can happen to anyone, but among everyone, it’s most common for women over the age of 40.
Other rare types of breast cancer include papillary carcinoma, mucinous carcinoma, medullary carcinoma, low-grade adenosquamous carcinoma, tubular carcinoma, and adenoid cystic carcinoma.

2. Ductal Carcinoma in situ: It starts as a mass growing in a milk duct, whose job is to carry milk from lobules to the nipples. This type of cancer does not spread to other body parts. It remains in and over the breast only. With the advancement in the medical sector, there are more chances of positive outcomes after the necessary treatment.
3. Lobular Carcinoma in situ: this type is not majorly treated like cancer, but it is treated as a change in the breast. Cells that resemble cancer cells might grow in between the lobules.
Early breast cancer can be treated through surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormonal therapy, biological therapy, and some medications like capecitabine breast cancer medicine, which tries to prevent the cancer cells from growing or spreading throughout the body.
